Admiralty Leisure Chart Folios which are A2 size sheets all contained in a water resistant case, covering the key leisure locations in the UK. Designed by yachtsmen for yachtsmen,
Leisure Chart Folios contain A2 sized charts – just the right size for the chart table and are printed on heavyweight chart paper, packaged in a plastic wallet. Each folio chart is compiled using the same exacting standards and highly reliable data as that used to produce standard Admiralty nautical charts and publications. All Folios are kept up to date via the online Leisure Notices to Mariners (NMs) service. Designed to make updating an effortless task, all relevant Notices are made available weekly, ensuring you have the best information available to help you navigate safely and effectively.
Leisure Folios - Print Production
Users of the Leisure Folio may have noticed that the appearance of Leisure Folios has changed recently as we have moved production to digital printers. The paper used is 100% the same as previous apart from the cover sheet which used to be glossy but is now appears slightly duller. This is due to being printed on chart paper the same as the individual charts.
Moving from a lithographic print process to a digital process enables ADMIRALTY to continue to offer Folios at a very reasonable price, therefore avoiding having to put up the price of the folios for several years and making them great value for money. This paper has evolved over the years to keep the best possible qualities required for navigational use, and is not available outside of ADMIRALTY chart products.
The ‘flying A’ is a security feature embedded into the paper of all ADMIRALTY charts which can easily be seen when a chart is held up to the light. Some customers may believe the paper of the charts has changed, it may feel slightly different (perhaps smoother) as it has undergone a different process, but it is in fact the same quality as all of our chart products. To date we are not aware of any incidents of Leisure Folios being copied or forged, however if a leisure folio is found without the ‘flying A’ please contact Customer Services for advice.
NP109 is the North West Europe catalogue which contains a full list of Admiralty Leisure Chart Folios, Standard Nautical Charts of this area and details of other Leisure products. This catalogue is correct to the 5th December 2013.
