UKHO Signs Bilateral Agreement with MSA of The People’s Republic of China

UKHO has signed a new Bilateral Agreement with the Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) of The People’s Republic of China.

A new licensing agreement has been signed with the China Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) which will increase AVCS coverage in Chinese home waters. The agreement supports our pledge of delivering a comprehensive and fully-compliant global series in the digital format for the international mariner.

The inclusion of 257 MSA China ENC Cells is a significant addition to AVCS coverage in the Far East which sees a high volume and diversity of shipping traffic that has to comply with Chapter V of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Regulations.

MSA China and ourselves are members of the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) and this latest agreement extends a strong historical working relationship. Both organisations have a shared focus on improving the safety of navigation at sea and this arrangement further supports the IHO resolution for the provision of adequate global ENC coverage of the main international shipping routes by 2010.
